Staring Death in the Eye: Films about the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, 1943

On May 16, 1943, the Germans finally destroyed the last remnant of resistance by the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto.   They had begun their revolt in April 19, when they heard news that they were to be liquidated.  It was not just a battle of defiance; it was a battle of survival.
